Welcome to Larry and Donna's Log Cabin Website!

Our plan is to update this website with news, pictures, etc. on our progress.

10/20/2007 - 10/21/2007: Attended LHBA Log Home Building Seminar. Learned a ton, and had many questions answered. Most importantly, we got some of the information we would need to figure out if building a log home for ourselves was really for us.

10/22/2007 - 10/24/2007: Looked at land in the Skykomish and Cowlitz river valleys, trying to find that perfect view property that we can actually afford.

10/25/2007: Begin reworking floor plans with newly accquired knowledge and ideas. Start planning scale model.

10/29/2007: Talked with septic designer about soils test for a specific property.

10/29/2007: Posted initial 40x40 floorplans linkie and sought feedback from LHBA Member forums

11/1/2007: Posted revised 40x40 floorplans linkie and sought feedback from LHBA Member forums. Talked to more people at the county about the property.

11/3/2007: Began building my scale model linkie

12/14/2007 Made a contingent offer on a bargain property in Randle, WA. Began process of septic approval and approval of our site plan. If everything goes well, we will close some time in January.

01/15/2008 We backed out of buying the property. It turned out that raiding our retirement money would have cost so much in penalties, that we would have had to borrow more than we would like. So, it looks like my idea of owning property BEFORE we sell our current home and move ONCE to the property to start building isn't going to work out. We will just have to wait until we sell, move to Washington, and find someplace once we are there. **sigh** There probably won't be too many updates to this site in the near future.

01/28/2008 Another rendering of a design: linkie

05/10/2008 Helped peel logs at Lester and Brenda's place near Williamsport. Click linkie for pictures:linkie
